WHY CARLUS® EXISTS
A lockmaking foundation. A new automotive-security purpose.
The CARLUS® story begins with more than 35 years of lockmaking experience in Taiwan. Across those decades, our manufacturing foundation was shaped by lock mechanisms, material selection, tooling, CNC precision machining, assembly and quality control.
What we carried forward was more than the ability to manufacture a lock. It was a practical understanding of how materials, tolerances and mechanisms work together to make a protective barrier harder to defeat.
CARLUS® was created to translate that foundation into a focused automotive-security brand—not to present itself as a factory, but to rethink how mechanical protection can complement the modern car.

BACK TO MECHANICAL PROTECTION
When cars became more connected, we made security more visible.
Keyless entry, push-button start, smart keys and electronic anti-theft systems have made modern vehicles more convenient. We asked whether those systems could be complemented by another layer—one that could be seen and touched.
Traditional vehicle locks can require complex installation, permanent modification or bulky hardware. Our starting point was different: no change to the original vehicle structure, no complicated work, yet a fast way to add a mechanical barrier.
That idea became the starting point for a new generation of CARLUS® automotive-security products.
FROM AN IDEA TO CLAMLOX®
The shell lock was designed around the vehicle—not around a universal adjustment.
We brought decades of lockmaking knowledge into the vehicle interior. Through repeated measurement, design, prototyping and in-vehicle testing, we developed a shell-shaped lock that wraps the verified gear-selector head and operating button.
We call it the CLAMLOX® Clamshell Gear Shift Lock. It is not a permanently installed traditional gear-shift lock, and it is not a bulky steering-wheel lock. It is CARLUS®’s first core product series.
We wanted it to do three things: be fast, simple and visible. It locks and unlocks in seconds without drilling or permanent interior modification. Once installed, its bright physical presence can be seen from outside the vehicle.
We believe effective deterrence should not only make a theft attempt more difficult. It should also make someone reconsider the attempt before it begins.
